Esti Barnes trained as a graphic artist in her native Istanbul and founded Topfloor in Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, London in 1998. The company has become a favourite of the interior design world with its distinctive textured rug designs and breadth of choice in material, style, and construction technique. As well as its core collections of hand-tufted, hand-knotted and hand-woven rugs, the company can offer hospitality and commercial clients its bespoke Axminster and Wilton carpet ranges.
Luxury rugs for presidential suites, outdoor carpets for pools or superyachts, an eco-friendly hand-woven rug for a Cotswold mansion or an opulent interpretation of one of her prize-winning designs for an upper westside penthouse, these are Esti's stock in trade. Esti draws inspiration from travel, nature and, of course, art.
In fact, her design collaborations have all been with artists featuring very different styles: the florid, dynamic swoops and swirls of contemporary calligrapher Hassan Massoudy (SCRIPT Collection), the mystical multi- layered canvasses of Nicolas Galtier (MUSE Collection) and the optically mesmerizing graphics of San Francisco artist Gianluca Franzese (MATRIX Collection).

With these two techniques - the decoupage and colour shading - it is now possible to create something truly bespoke and exactly fit for decorative purpose.
Add on the option to have the rug tufted in any size and shape and the possibilities become almost endless.
However, add in Esti's creative eye and imagination and the weaver's pitch perfect workmanship and you end up with an icon in the making that was named 'Best of Year' by INTERIOR DESIGN Magazine in 2010.
